The birth of Budha (Mercury) and the celestial conflict
Once upon a time, the Moon god Chandra grew enamored by Tara, wife of the great preceptor Brihaspati. Unable to resist his temptation, Chandra abducted Tara and took her to the moon.
This audacious act set off a celestial conflict among the gods. Enraged, Brihaspati's son Budha was born from this illicit union between Chandra and Tara. He grew up with a fiery resolve to restore his family's honor.
Budha, also known as Mercury, sided with the Adityas, the solar deities, in their war against the Chandras, lunar deities. This celestial conflict raged on for many years, causing disruptions on Earth.
The birth of Budha and the ensuing cosmic war exemplify the dark side of duality - cleverness turned into transgression, leading to chaos and strife. His placement in Gemini signifies the inherent dual nature of humanity and the potential for intelligence to be misused.
